Seattle Seahawks receiver Tyler Lockett is the team's nomination for the 2022 Walter Payton Man of the Year, the organization announced Tuesday.
The prestigious award is given annually to the player who has a positive impact on their community while continuing to be a success on the field. All 32 teams have one nominee for the award.
Lockett was Seattle's nominee last season, which came a year after former Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson won the honor in 2020.
"Just being able to understand going through that process, seeing all the Man of the Year nominees, seeing the things we did in the community," Lockett said, per Seahawks.com. "You don't want to feel like you're doing it for an award, but it's cool that this is the award that says thank you for all the things that you're doing."
Lockett has once again been a bright spot for the Seahawks this season. He's 12th in the league in receiving yards (836), 13th in catches (66) and tied for fifth in receiving touchdowns (seven).
It's his stellar play along with the off-the-field community impact that has put him in line to win one the NFL's greatest honors.
"Eventually in life, you realize that you can make a difference, whether it's money, whether it's time, whether it's just words of encouragement or listening, you never really know what people need in order to make it through the day." Lockett said.
The winner of the 2022 Walter Payton Man of the Year will be announced during the NFL's award show on Thursday, Feb. 9.
Seahawks 'Foolish'? Re-Sign QB Geno Smith, Says ESPN's Mina Kimes
Is the "What To Do About Geno Smith?'' question really all that simple for the Seattle Seahawks?
By Mike Fisher
We believe in all fairness, the "What To Do About Geno Smith?'' question is a challenging one.
Is this season a "fluke''? Does it suddenly make a scrapheap QB worth $37 million APY? Should it preclude the Seattle Seahawks from using a premium pick (thanks, Russell Wilson and Denver Broncos!) on "The Next Great QB?''
ESPN’s Mina Kimes, however - who happens to be a keen Seahawks-watcher - believes there is more clarity here than we see, suggesting Seattle would be "foolish'' to disconnect from the NFL's top "Comeback Player of the Year'' candidate.
In a recent video visit for ESPN.com (transcribed by YardBarker), Kimes makes her case ...
“I do believe Geno Smith is going to be with the Seahawks next season,” Kimes said. “That does not mean there’s no chance they draft a quarterback ... (Smith can) be their bridge quarterback with a young quarterback. I also think, however, it’s possible they like what they’ve seen from him enough to extend him ...
Geno Smith has been absolutely outstanding, surpassed expectations for the Seahawks, and I think it would be foolish for them to move on from him entirely even with some of the struggles lately.”
Over the Cap suggests Smith’s next deal could be worth the aforementioned $37 million per season. ... and we still believe that is one issue that makes this a tougher call than Kimes sees it as.
Additionally - and we don't mean to nitpick here - but we don't quite agree with Kimes' superlatives in judging Geno. While he has been a revelation as a centerpiece of a team many thought would be awful but in fact remains in the NFL playoff chase with two weeks remaining, "absolutely outstanding'' is a stretch.
"Surpassed expectations'' is dead-on, as Smith leads the NFL in completion percentage (70.7), ranks fourth in touchdown passes (27), fifth in passer rating (102.9) and eighth in passing yards (3,886).
Honestly, there are some levels above what Geno is doing for which the phrase "absolutely outstanding'' should be reserved. And we say there is judgment to be reserved, too, while we gauge the way contract talks and the NFL Draft unfold for Seattle.

The Seattle Seahawks (7-8) put up a pretty limp showing on offense and lost 24-10 to the Kansas City Chiefs (12-3), who weren’t at their best offensively and some of that was due to a pretty inspired performance by the Seahawks defense.
On a frigid day in KC, Seattle didn’t manage a first down until the 2nd quarter, and while they finally got the rushing attack revived behind over 100 yards from Kenneth Walker III, the passing game was far too limited without Tyler Lockett. Geno Smith threw a back-breaking interception in the 4th quarter when the
game was reasonably within reach. He struggled, and so did the offensive line, and it was miserable to watch.
The Seahawks have lost five of six but thanks to a surprise loss by the Detroit Lions to the Carolina Panthers, as well as an expected Washington Commanders loss against the San Francisco 49ers, they lost no ground in the NFC wild card hunt.
1st Quarter
The Chiefs started with the ball and threw it on three straight plays, but Patrick Mahomes’ last two passes were incomplete. A three-and-out by Kansas City’s mighty offense in the mighty cold! Seattle’s first play was an 18-yard run by Kenneth Walker III, which was wiped out by a hold on DK Metcalf. Already backed
up near their own goal line, the drive stalled with no first downs.
It took only 9 plays for the Chiefs to go 63 yards and get the game’s opening touchdown. Patrick Mahomes gets the credit for the TD throw as the little toss was bobbled by Kadarius Toney, who still waltzed into the end zone. 7-0 Chiefs.
Seahawks QB Geno Smith was slow to get up after a sack. Backup QB Drew Lock is warming up on the sideline.
A big kick return by Godwin Igwebuike went to waste as the Seahawks got no first downs and turned it over on downs on a batted ball on 4th and 3. George Karlaftis swatted Geno Smith’s pass down before it could get to Laquon Treadwell. Luckily the Seahawks defense (!!!) came up big and forced a punt, with Tariq
Woolen breaking up a deep shot to Justin Watson to deny KC a 2nd touchdown. The Seahawks got the ball back and rapidly went three-and-out.
2nd Quarter
Geno Smith got sacked on Seattle’s next possession and was slow to get up. He was holding his knee but thankfully got back to his feet and walked back to the sideline under his own power.
You can only keep Kansas City down for so long. Mahomes found Travis Kelce on an absolute dime to the Seattle 9 for 27 yards. Jerick McKinnon broke a Michael Jackson tackle and extended the lead on a quick catch-and-run. 14-0 Chiefs.
The Seahawks got a first down! Kenneth Walker III converted 3rd and inches. Happy Holidays! (Seattle punted)
A big screen pass play to rookie Isiah Pacheco gained 30+ yards into Seahawks field goal territory. That’s what the Chiefs ended up doing! Harrison Butker with the 48-yard make. 17-0 Chiefs.
Needing literally any offense before halftime, it looked like the Seahawks were going to punt again when Geno Smith got sacked. Joshua Williams was flagged for holding Marquise Goodwin and extended the series. A deep shot to DK Metcalf was caught spectacularly for a gain of 35 yards. A pass interference by
Williams on Laquon Treadwell got Seattle into the red zone. A hands to the face penalty negated a 3rd down stop! All the flags! But no touchdown. 17-3 Chiefs.

3rd Quarter
Seattle wasted its opening drive by going three-and-out. Geno had room to run and ended up throwing an incomplete pass on 3rd down to Marquise Goodwin, who seemingly re-injured his wrist. The Chiefs went three-and-out thanks in part to a dropped pass by Justin Watson and airtight coverage by Jonathan Abram on Travis Kelce.
The Seahawks got the run game going with a couple of quality runs by Kenneth Walker III. Naturally, they ditched under center work and went shotgun for less successful running plays. On 4th and 4 in Kansas City territory, Geno threw short to Colby Parkinson on a pick play and it got stopped well short of the sticks.
Penny Hart was flagged for OPI anyway. What a mess. Seattle’s defense again stepped up and forced a KC punt.
Jay Biggerstaff-USA TODAY Sports
4th Quarter
Again the Seahawks went for it on 4th down, but Geno threw a bad pass on 4th and 8 that was short of the sticks and made Laquon Treadwell come back to the ball short of the marker. Once again, the defense forced a three-and-out on this vaunted KC offense.
A critical 3rd and 11 throw from Geno to DK converted a first down that the Seahawks badly needed. Kenneth Walker III barreled his way into the red zone, but the Seahawks also took a timeout and left them with one left in the final 8 minutes. Geno threw an interception to Juan Thornhill on a miscommunication
between him and Marquise Goodwin.
Two huge plays to Travis Kelce had Jordyn Brooks badly beaten and Kansas City was suddenly in goal-to-go. On 3rd and goal, Mahomes outran Jordyn Brooks and stretched out to the pylon for the score. 24-3 Chiefs.
Hey! Geno Smith led a 10-play, 75-yard drive that ended in a garbage time score to Noah Fant. 24-10 Chiefs.

HERE WE GO!
The Seattle Seahawks (7-7) didn’t get blown out by the San Francisco 49ers (10-4), but not getting blown out is still a loss. Two touchdowns by Brock Purdy to George Kittle and a Christian McCaffrey touchdown off a costly Travis Homer fumble led to a 21-13 win for the 49ers to take the NFC West title at Lumen Field.
Seattle is not only staying out of a playoff spot but they no longer “control their destiny” such that winning out wouldn’t be enough. The offensive line got dominated by the 49ers’ monstrous defensive front, and while the defense did have some bright spots, the talent disparity on both sides of the ball was too much
to overcome.
1st Quarter
Godwin Igwebuike took the opening kickoff to his own 35, giving the Seahawks solid field position to begin the game. It was wasted after only getting one first down, and Geno Smith was fortunate not to get intercepted on his third attempt by Dre Greenlaw.
The 49ers’ first possession ended in a three-and-out! Christian McCaffrey had a rush and a catch but the 49ers were backed up and didn’t go for it on 4th and 1 at their own 19. Seattle got the ball back and promptly went three-and-out.
A huge run by McCaffrey for 23 yards gave the 49ers their first jolt of offense. Only a handful of plays later, Kyle Shanahan dialed up a double fake screen and then a Brock Purdy throw down the middle to an open George Kittle for a touchdown. Just a brilliantly designed play. 7-0 49ers.
Seahawks offense comes back out onto the field and goes three-and-out again. The 49ers got great field position on a lame Joey Blount fair catch interference penalty. Their own penalty on Mike McGlinchey erased a 3rd down conversion, and led to a punt. Darrell Taylor (who forced McGlinchey to hold) jumped offside
on 4th and 7 for some reason, but the 49ers bailed them out. Seattle gave it back on a three-and-out, plus DK Metcalf got penalized for taunting. The team is losing, DK.
2nd Quarter
A block in the back penalty on Brandon Aiyuk combined with consecutive incomplete passes by Brock Purdy (who hit on his first 11 passes) forced another punt. Finally the Seahawks got a good drive going with a couple of Geno strikes to DK Metcalf, as well as an 18-yard run by Smith on a 3rd and 13. A completion
to Noah Fant had the Seahawks on the cusp of the red zone, but eventually that stingy 49ers defense got the job done and held Seattle to a 38-yard field goal by Jason Myers. 7-3 49ers.
Quandre Diggs nearly picked off Brock Purdy on the other side of the two-minute warning, which would’ve set up great field position for the Seahawks. Instead they began their drill at their own 19 with all three timeouts. It was going well until Travis Homer fumbled on a huge hit by Dre Greenlaw. Charvarius Ward
picked it up and took it all the way to Seattle’s 6. Christian McCaffrey scored two plays later. 14-3 49ers.
3rd Quarter
One minute into the 3rd quarter, Purdy found a wide open George Kittle on a busted coverage for a touchdown. 21-3 49ers.
A pick-6 by Geno was negated by a roughing the passer call on Nick Bosa that was pretty iffy. Body weight rule, I suppose. Seattle was able to get a good drive going out of that good fortune and then had a setback when Geno’s deep throw to rookie Dareke Young at the 2-yard line was negated for an Abe Lucas hold.
A Nick Bosa sack took them out of FG range, but Geno got them back into it with a throw to Metcalf. Jason Myers drilled one from 51. 21-6 49ers.
One possession game. @GenoSmith3 @nrfant TD
The 49ers converted a 3rd and 15 to Ray-Ray McCloud on their ensuing possession, but an illegal formation put them behind the sticks and as a result they punted the ball back to Seattle and pinned them at their 4. Not every day you see a team get penalized three times in one play, but the 49ers did that and gave
Seattle a new set of downs.

Late in the 4th quarter of Seattle’s 21-13 loss to the San Francisco 49ers, Lockett was taken to the locker room with a hand injury, severity unknown. During the post-game press conference, Pete Carroll delivered the bad news: Lockett has a broken finger.
To be a little more specific, Lockett broke his left index finger.
SEATTLE (AP) — Tyler Lockett broke a bone in his hand in the fourth quarter of Seattle’s loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday night, another blow for the struggling Seahawks.
The wide receiver got hurt on Seattle’s final possession. Lockett was hit hard and appeared to fall awkwardly on an incomplete pass with 3:47 remaining. Seattle scored a touchdown but lost 21-13 to the 49ers, its fourth defeat in five games.
Seattle coach Pete Carroll said all options are being discussed about how to treat the injury, including surgery. Lockett is not expected to be available for next Saturday’s game at Kansas City but told Carroll he hopes to return for Week 17 against the New York Jets.
Lockett had seven catches for 68 yards, but saw his streak of six straight games with a touchdown catch come to an end.
Seattle also lost defensive tackle Bryan Mone to a knee injury in the first quarter. Carroll said it was an ACL injury.
4th Quarter
Seattle got into 49ers territory and had 3rd and 4 at the 35, which naturally is the time Geno Smith got devoured. A punt followed and Michael Dickson kicked a beauty to the 1-yard line. San Francisco only got one first down on a 3rd down throw from Purdy to Jennings, but that was all they got. The Seahawks got it
back and Geno took a grounding penalty and that was the end of that.
A busted coverage/great play design by Kyle Shanahan saw Purdy hit an open backup TE Tyler Kroft to get into field goal range. However, a dropped pass led to a field goal attempt by Robbie Gould that was pulled wide right from 43 out. Still a two-score game with 5 minutes left!
Smith and Kenneth Walker III combined for a big play, with Geno finding K9 out in the flat for a catch-and-run of 34 yards. The next play was a Geno Smith touchdown pass to an open Noah Fant! 21-13 49ers with 3:35 to go.
Needing a stop, the Seahawks couldn’t prevent Brock Purdy from escaping the pocket and converting a 3rd and 1 with his legs. With 2:16 left and the Seahawks out of timeouts, it’s bleak stuff. Carroll challenging Purdy sliding too early was unsuccessful. The next 3rd down led to a 56-yard run by rookie Jordan Mason
for the clinching first down. 21-13 49ers FINAL.

LIVE: The team speaks to the media following the game vs. the Panthers
The Seattle Seahawks (7-6) got run over once again, and this time it may very well be a point of no return.
The Carolina Panthers (5-8) rushed for well over 200 yards, held Geno Smith to his worst game of the season, and took advantage of the lack of healthy running backs on their way to a 30-24 win. Thanks to the win by the San Francisco 49ers over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Panthers are only a game out of first
place in the NFC South (with a tiebreaker advantage!). Meanwhile, the Seahawks are two back of the 49ers and are also out of the wild card.
Seattle was swept by the NFC South, by far the worst division in the NFL. That’s bad. This team is not good and they’re banged up, looking increasingly like the team we feared they’d be in August. Maybe they’re ahead of schedule still, but they’re still well behind what it takes to be a real contender.
1st Quarter
The Panthers started on offense and converted their first three third downs of the game, including a 3rd and 10 handoff to backup running back Chuba Hubbard. Rookie sensation Tariq Woolen broke up a Sam Darnold deep ball to DJ Moore that would’ve been a touchdown. Another 3rd down run by Carolina was
stopped by Cody Barton, leading to a made 47-yard field goal attempt by Eddy Pineiro. 3-0 Panthers.
Geno Smith’s first pass was a horrible interception to Jaycee Horn. I have no idea what Geno was looking at but Horn only didn’t score a touchdown on the return because he stumbled. Darnold threw an easy touchdown to Shi Smith to extend Carolina’s lead. 10-0 Panthers.
Drew Lock really wanted a flag after this play!
2nd Quarter
Seattle’s offense continued to sputter, only mustering up a first down via penalty. Carolina got the ball back and just gashed the Seahawks defense with underneath passes and a power-running attack behind D’Onta Foreman and Chuba Hubbard. It was Hubbard who punched it in from a yard out on 3rd and goal.
17- 0 Panthers.
A huge deep ball from Geno to Marquise Goodwin on 3rd down gained 38 yards, followed by a nice throw to an open Tyler Lockett that set up the Seahawks with goal to go at Carolina’s 8. On 3rd and goal, Geno found Lockett in the back of the end zone on a ridiculous toe tap touchdown. Six games in a row with a
TD! 17-7 Panthers.
SIX STRAIGHT GAMES OF @TDLOCKETT12 TOUCHDOWNS!
Tip Toe @TDLockett12 on full display.
Tyler Lockett TD - Franchise record 6 straight games with a receiving TD
The defense stepped up with a rare three-and-out, with Darrell Taylor applying pressure on 2nd down before sacking Darnold on 3rd down. Geno gave it right back on a 3rd down interception to C.J. Henderson, but the caveat was he thought there was a free play when it looked for all the world that Carolina jumped
offsides.
A very iffy horse collar penalty on Uchenna Nwosu on Sam Darnold put the Panthers in Seattle’s red zone. Bruce Irvin sacked Darnold after Carolina false started, resulting in 3rd and long. Carolina settled for another field goal and made it. 20-7 Panthers.
Cutting the deficit! @dkm14 x #ProBowlVote
Godwin Igwebuike made the most of his Seahawks debut by returning the ensuing kickoff just past midfield to the Carolina 46. Talk about a spark from the practice squad running back! Geno drove Seattle into the red zone off of another clutch 3rd down pass to Goodwin. The next 3rd down throw was a touchdown to
DK Metcalf in the slot. 20-14 Panthers.
3rd Quarter
Another huge kick return by Godwin Igwebuike gave Seattle good field position at their own 40 to begin the 2nd half. Geno Smith hit Marquise Goodwin (who made a great leaping grab) to get into Panthers territory, then scrambled for a first down into field goal range. Travis Homer finally got a good run into the red
zone, but it stalled from there. Jason Myers connected from 27. 20-17 Panthers.
Carolina went three-and-out after Coby Bryant broke up a 3rd down Darnold throw to former Seahawk Stephen Sullivan. Darnold had space to run for a first down but threw it further downfield and the rookie broke up the pass. Unfortunately the Seahawks responded with a tepid three-and-out and punted it back to
Carolina. Terrace Marshall made one of the catches of the year. With his legs. Seattle lost a timeout after failing on this challenge.
Two plays later, Sam Darnold raced out for 26 yards on a scramble drill all the way to the Seahawks 24. On 4th and 1 at the 5, Foreman converted in short yardage to set up goal to go. Darnold threw incomplete passes on consecutive plays, setting up a 3rd and goal, which was also incomplete. Take the points, right?
Nah! Go for it on 4th down and that’s incomplete on a desperation fling! Uchenna Nwosu had the pressure and Darnold’s flip was knocked away by Quandre Diggs.
4th Quarter
Seattle got out of the shadow of their own goal line but the one-dimensional nature of their offense meant keying in on Geno Smith and attacking the offensive line. Smith was sacked on a 3rd and 10 blitz that might have induced a false start, but the refs didn’t throw a flag.
The Panthers just mowed the Seahawks run defense down and rushed for 68 yards on their way to an easy touchdown for rookie Raheem Blackshear. 27-17 Panthers with 6:57 left.
A scoreless possession by Seattle gave way to a cowardly punt by Pete Carroll, who watched his defense get gashed for four more minutes before giving up a field goal. 30-17 Panthers.
Geno Smith was still battling and threw a late touchdown to Marquise Goodwin on a free play. Carolina pretty much gave up a little prematurely on defense, but they recovered the onside kick. 30-24 Panthers FINAL.
The Seahawks were bossed around today by the Panthers.Bruce Irvin was'nt happy about it.I got three kids at home so Im not going to let another man put his hands on me...
Ryan Neal says Seahawks weren’t surprised by anything Panthers did, just couldn’t stop it.
NFL playoff picture: Projecting the seeds & matchups for AFC, NFC brackets in Week 14

The Seahawks are one of three teams, along with the Giants and Commanders, that are ahead in the race for two playoff spots. The Seahawks have been up-and-down but Geno Smith has the offense playing at a high level. It's just a matter of whether the defense can hold up, particularly against the run.
Seattle is fresh off a 27-23 win over John Wolford and the Rams that helped the team leapfrog Washington for the NFC's No. 7 seed.

Geno Smith is a NFL MVP this season - ESPN praises Seahawks to 27-23 comeback win over Rams
Geno’s post game interview after the Rams Game.
It wasn’t easy but the Seattle Seahawks (7-5) perhaps saved their season with a dramatic 27-23 win over the Los Angeles Rams (3-9). Geno Smith threw for 367 yards and 3 touchdown passes, including the dramatic game-winner to DK Metcalf with just :36 left when the team was down 23-20.
The Seahawks run defense struggled against a badly undermanned Rams offense, giving up 171 yards on the ground. John Wolford was held to 14/26 passing for 178 yards and a couple of interceptions, capped off by the game-sealing interception by Cody Barton in the closing seconds.
Seattle is now in a wild card spot over the Washington Commanders, who are 7-5-1 to Seattle’s 7-5. This win did come at a cost, as Kenneth Walker III suffered an ankle injury and did not return after the 2nd quarter. Tony Jones had to carry the load in the 2nd half with injuries to both Walker and DeeJay Dallas, who
did return in the 2nd half.
Pete Carroll and the Seahawks Hyped in the Locker room after beating the Rams.
1st Quarter
The Rams got the ball first and marched down the field with ease. Run defense problems for the Seahawks continued and there was a 3rd down play-action throw to Ben Skowronek that was LA’s biggest pass play of the series. John Wolford found Brandon Powell on a quick screen to get to the 1, and Cam Akers
punched it in on the next play. 7-0 Rams.
The Seahawks answered back with their own opening drive touchdown. Kenneth Walker III ripped off a 30-yard run to kick things off, and then a few plays later (after a Bobby Wagner sack, mind you!) Geno Smith found an open Tyler Lockett for a 36-yard touchdown. Smith beat the blitz and was aided by a great
block by DeeJay Dallas. 7-7.
Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports
Barely 45 minutes later the Seahawks announced that Walker would not be returning, and that his day was done, leaving fans to worry for the worst and dreading whatever update head coach Pete Carroll would provide after the game. However, Carroll’s update on the injury might be the most non-update update of
Carroll’s coaching career.
Obviously it remains to be seen what kind of further updates come in the next few days, but at this point it seems unlikely that Walker would miss significant time due to this particular injury. As for Ryan Neal, that’s a good update and should not mean missing an extended period of time.
John Wolford led the Rams on a 7-play, 53-yard drive that was all too easy for Los Angeles. Thankfully for the Seahawks defense, Tutu Atwell could not keep both feet inbounds on what would’ve been a 3rd down touchdown grab. Matt Gay booted one through from 40 yards out. 10-7 Rams.
Both teams traded punts to wrap up the opening frame.

2nd Quarter
Backed up at their own 9, Geno Smith was 6/8 for 78 yards and he capped off the drive with a beautiful touchdown throw in the back corner of the end zone to Noah Fant. Beautiful stuff by Geno and it’s his second touchdown on the afternoon. 14-10 Seahawks.
John Wolford threw a dime to Van Jefferson on a free play to put the Rams into Seattle territory and close to field goal range. On his next throw? A garbage throwback pass into the waiting arms of Tariq Woolen! Six interceptions on the year for the rookie.
The Rams defense forced a punt anyway, capped off by another Bobby Wagner sack on Geno. They got into field goal range on their next possession but had a scare when Uchenna Nwosu strip sacked Wolford. The Rams recovered, played it safe on 3rd and 16, then kicked a 54-yard field goal to pull within one. 14-13
Seahawks.
3rd Quarter
Back-to-back throws by Geno Smith to DK Metcalf put the Seahawks into Rams territory. Unfortunately, Geno Smith took way too long with the ball and was strip sacked by Michael Hoecht. The ball propelled forward about 20 yards and Taylor Rapp recovered it. Thankfully the Seahawks defense forced a three-and-

Bobby Wagner against his old team
DK burned Derion Kendrick for a 40-yard gain on the next series. Geno found Tyler Lockett to get the Seahawks in the red zone, where the lack of healthy running backs made it a pass-only situation. Metcalf committed a roughness penalty on Jalen Ramsey in a dead ball foul but it thankfully didn’t cost them any
points. Jason Myers hit from 41. 17-13 Seahawks.

HUGE pick up by @TDLockett12
The Seahawks defense forced another three-and-out, highlighted by Tariq Woolen breaking up a long ball intended for Tutu Atwell. Woolen was a couple of steps behind Atwell but his closing speed showed up in a big way.
It looked as if Bobby Wagner had picked off Geno Smith on a checkdown to Tony Jones, who had the ball ripped away from him as they went to the ground. Upon replay review, the play stood as an interception. I suppose Jones never had full control of the ball and that’s why it was upheld as a turnover.
Wolford suffered a minor ankle tweak after getting his foot stepped on, but then came back in and threw a dart to Van Jefferson to get to the Seahawks’ 22.
4th Quarter
The Rams got into the red zone in search of the lead, but Uchenna Nwosu denied them with a critical 3rd down sack of Wolford to force another field goal. 17-16 Seahawks.
An 11-play, 67-yard drive for the Seahawks stalled in the red zone for a field goal. Geno threw a deep ball to an open Tyler Lockett to set the offense up deep in Rams territory, but a failed run by DeeJay Dallas, a short gain screen to Will Dissly, and a throw nearly picked by Taylor Rapp prompted another Jason Myers
field goal. 20-16 Seahawks with 6:46 left.
Needing a touchdown to take the lead, the Rams were in four-down territory. Wolford converted a 4th and 2 bootleg. Brandon Powell took off for a 20-yard gain on an inside handoff. Cam Akers scored on a 6-yard run to give the Rams the edge. 23-20 Rams with 2:56 to go.
Geno completed a couple of passes that gained 16 yards, then the Rams’ Jalen Ramsey committed an illegal contact to give Seattle another 5 yards. A toss out in the flat to Noah Fant got Seattle into Rams territory out of the two-minute warning. Smith threw consecutive incomplete passes to force 3rd and 10. Geno
found Lockett for a first down to the Rams’ 30. A run with DeeJay Dallas got them to the 25. Out of a timeout, Geno found Goodwin over the middle to the 8-yard line with :41 left. First and goal to Metcalf! TOUCHDOWN!!! On Jalen Ramsey!! 27-23 Seahawks with :36 left.

DK Metcalf game-winning TD against Jalen Ramsey
DK Metcalf Challnges Jalen Ramsey Mid-Play
With realistic playoff hopes pretty much on the line at SoFi Stadium, Geno Smith led a phenomenal game-winning touchdown drive that was capped off by an 8-yard pass into the end zone to DK Metcalf. The man who was covering DK with the game on the line? None other than the talkative corner Jalen Ramsey.
Ramsey and Metcalf have jawed at each other for several seasons, and earlier in this game Metcalf got a flag for a roughness penalty after the play was over. On that same drive, Metcalf taunted Ramsey and urged him to travel with him across the field when he went in motion. Jalen didn’t travel with him and Metcalf
instead got a catch on his teammate Derion Kendrick.
Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports
Metcalf finished with 8 catches for 127 yards and the winning score. Not all of those grabs were on Ramsey, but the most important catch of the entire season for the Seahawks was best on best, and DK was the winner.

Gregg Bell: Geno Smith Proves Himself To Seahawks In Clutch Win Against Rams
Is Seahawks QB Geno Smith a top 5-7 QB in the NFL right now?!
Brotherhood. @Bwagz
Hats off to you, @Bwagz. Coach Pete Carroll
Keep on digging, @TDLockett12!
Geno Smith talks about his first game-winning drive for Seahawks
Winners
Geno Smith
You wanted a Geno 4th quarter comeback drive? You got it. Smith had a few other opportunities to do this and they all ended in losses. When the Seahawks absolutely needed Smith to come through in the clutch, he delivered. Even acknowledging Aaron Donald’s absence, Smith went 28/39 for 367 yards and 3
touchdowns (with 1 interception and a lost fumble) was fantastic. No one this season has thrown for more yards in a game against the Rams than Geno.
Smith was clutch, he made smart decisions and loads of accurate throws at all distances. What a phenomenal performance especially with the team in desperate need of a victory. The lack of a running game meant the offense fell on Geno’s shoulders and he rose to the occasion.
Seahawks Clock Management
Yes. That two-minute drill was executed to near perfection. The first goal for the Seahawks was to get into field goal range, which they did. The primary goal was to go for a touchdown and the win, secondarily leaving the Rams as little time left as possible to respond in regulation. I know Seattle had all three
timeouts but letting the clock run down with the field goal attempt in their back pocket was very well done, and the one timeout they did use was after Marquise Goodwin got the Seahawks in a goal-to-go situation.
That was smart use (or non-use) of timeouts that meant the Rams had just 36 seconds to answer, and in a straight dropback situation they never had much of a chance.
DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett
It sure helps Geno that he has two stud receivers. Metcalf had 8 catches (on 8 targets) for 127 yards and the winning touchdown. Lockett had 9 catches for 128 yards and Seattle’s opening touchdown. Those were standout displays by one of the NFL’s best receiving duos, and while Lockett’s excellence has been a
fixture of Seahawks football for eight seasons, it’s Metcalf’s performance that fans should savor. That’s the type of outing you want out of your projected long-term franchise receiver, and the cherry on top was getting the winner on Jalen Ramsey.
Noah Fant
Slowly but surely it looks as if Fant is now the top receiving target among the three tight ends. The former Bronco caught 4 passes for 42 yards and a touchdown in the back corner of the end zone. Fant has at least three receptions in four consecutive games and is looking a little more like what the Seahawks
presumably expected from him as a pass-catching TE.
Tariq Woolen
By my count Woolen gave up just a 23-yard catch to Van Jefferson and that’s it. He had his sixth interception of the season on a poor throwback pass by John Wolford, and Woolen saw it all the way. Woolen had three passes defensed, including one to Tutu Atwell that could’ve been a big play but Woolen’s long arms
and closing speed can erase getting beaten by a few snaps. Defensive Rookie of the Year? Defensive Rookie of the Year.
Uchenna Nwosu
After consecutive games without a sack or really anything impactful, Nwosu recorded two sacks and helped aid Ryan Neal on a run stop by slowing down Cam Akers in the backfield before Akers was brought down by Neal. He also had a tackle on Wolford in the open field or else he might have run for a first down in
the 3rd quarter. Nwosu now has nine sacks on the season and remains the only reasonably consistent pass rusher for the Seahawks.
Darrell Taylor
Taylor’s deservedly had his snaps reduced for his underwhelming performance this year, but with the Rams still in with a shout to get a game-winning touchdown, he effectively wiped out any hope for Los Angeles with a first down sack of John Wolford.
Jason Myers
Another perfect game for Myers, who hasn’t missed a kick since a PAT against the New Orleans Saints in Week 5.
Bobby Wagner
I never put opposing players in W&L but I have to make an exception for a Seahawks legend. He had two sacks on Smith and has now matched his single-season career high with five. I don’t really believe he should’ve had an interception but it was reminiscent of a pick he made against the 49ers in 2017. Watching
Wagner play well but the Seahawks still getting the W was really the ideal outcome for me, and I suspect many other Seahawks fans as well.

2023 Broncos Draft Picks Watch: Ravens’ Tyler Huntley sends Denver to ninth loss
Thank you, Baltimore!
The Baltimore Ravens lost superstar franchise quarterback Lamar Jackson to a knee injury at the end of the first quarter. Luckily for them, Tyler Huntley is a capable backup quarterback and the Denver Broncos (3-9) can’t score points.
Huntley led an 89-yard game-winning drive and plunged into the end zone from two yards out with 28 seconds left in regulation to propel Baltimore to a 10-9 win over Denver in a game that, like most Broncos games, was an unwatchable puntfest.
Denver still had a chance to win and found themselves in fringe field goal range after a Russell Wilson pass to Jerry Jeudy and a couple of Wilson scrambles. Time was limited and with no timeouts, Nathaniel Hackett opted for the 63-yard field goal with Brandon McManus over a Hail Mary. McManus’ kick was straight
but well short, which for the Ravens was a bad thing last week but a great thing today.
Russell Wilson’s statistics look nice: 17/22 for 189 yards, 21 yards rushing, and only two sacks taken. Of course, the Broncos didn’t score a touchdown and went 2/12 on 3rd down. They scored on their opening drive, then again in the two-minute drill before halftime, and wrapped up their points with an 8-yard drive
off a Huntley interception. This is an incomprehensibly bad group.

Seahawks vs. Raiders: Seattle falls out of playoff spot with 40-34 overtime loss to Raiders
The Seahawks defense got shredded by the Raiders.
It's that @BIrvin_WVU11 motor. He was on the mic this past Sunday.
The Seattle Seahawks (6-5) have collapsed out of the playoffs entirely entering December.
A 40-34 overtime loss is how the Seahawks returned from their bye week against a Las Vegas Raiders (4-7) team that has struggled all season to win close games. Josh Jacobs rushed for over 200 yards and had over 300 yards from scrimmage. The Raiders offense had 576 yards and outside of turnovers they did
whatever they wanted against a horrific Seahawks defense.
Geno Smith threw for over 300 yards and two touchdowns but had an interception that led to a Raiders touchdown. Kenneth Walker III rushed for two touchdowns but couldn’t get going otherwise and him and Smith had a critical botched exchange that led to a Raiders fumble recovery.
Seattle has lost two straight and now the postseason hopes are in serious trouble.
1st Quarter
The Raiders got the ball first and immediately turned it over. Derek Carr picked off by Quandre Diggs on his first attempt! He made a diving play and returned it inside the Raiders’ 15. Two plays later, Kenneth Walker III broke outside contain and took off for a 12-yard touchdown run. 7-0 Seahawks.
After Derek Carr's first Interception, a 12th player from the Seahawks bench ran onto the field and started blocking
The Bizarre Seahawks Penalty That Wasn't, Explained
Darrell Taylor Goofs Up
On November 27, 2022, the Seattle Seahawks hosted the Las Vegas Raiders at home and eventually lost 40-34, as SB Nation reports. In the main, it was a mundane and routine mid-season game between two teams that are going nowhere; the Raiders are 4-7 and are on pace to end the season with a middling
record at best, while the Seahawks needed a win to have any chance at making to post-season — a win which they obviously didn't get.
The game was memorable for one incident, however, and it was a blink-and-you'll-miss-it sort of thing: During one play early in the game, the Seahawks had 12 men on the field at the same time. Ordinarily, that's a foul that nets the team a 5-yard penalty, according to NFL Penalties. However, it seems that no one in
Seattle that day –—no one on either team or the officiating crew, and apparently none of the fans either — seemed to notice, and no penalty was called.
The penalty-that-wasn't took place in the early moments of the game and, according to Sports Illustrated, apparently wasn't noticed until a Twitter user pointed it out. Specifically, early in the first quarter — with just a few seconds having been ticked off of the clock — Raiders' quarterback Derek Carr threw his first
pass of the day, only to have it caught not by his intended receiver but by Seattle safety Quandre Diggs, who intercepted it and then returned it for a few yards.
Seahawks linebacker Darrell Taylor (#52, above) assisted Diggs in the play by getting in front of him and blocking. The only problem was Diggs was on the sidelines when the play began, and NFL rules prevent him from running onto the field while the play is active. That, and his presence on the field, meant that
there were 12 men in Seahawks uniform on the field at the same time instead of the customary 11. Had an official noticed, it would have brought a flag.
This would not be the first time that an officiating crew failed to notice a 12th man on the field.
NBC Sports points out that this failure of the officiating crew to recognize a penalty is doubly egregious. That's because the play that invoked the penalty in the first place was a turnover play, and NFL rules require all turnovers to be video reviewed, and the replay officials failed to notice as well. As for Taylor, NBC \
Sports writer Michael David Smith was prepared to give him a bit of a pass, chalking it up to an excited teammate wanting to join his buddy on the field to celebrate the touchdown — except that Taylor actively blocked an opposing player. "It was a bad mistake by Taylor and a bad mistake by the officials," wrote
Smith. Sporting News' Kevin Skiver takes a similar view, suggesting that Taylor likely got caught up in the moment, at least at first, but then once he threw a couple of blocks, the "caught up in the moment" excuse failed to continue to hold any water.
Don't expect Taylor or the Seahawks to be punished retroactively, either, as the NFL generally only levies punishment after the fact in the cases of violations of its conduct policy, and this mistake hardly rises to that level.
Quandre's second pick on the day. Raible Call of the Game vs. Raiders
Seahawks start their game in the best way possible
The Raiders responded to that disastrous start and marched down the field on the Seahawks defense. Derek Carr took a heavy shot from Uchenna Nwosu on a 3rd down conversion and was holding his ribs, but he did come back into the game on the next play. Ryan Neal should’ve picked Carr on his first pass after the
apparent injury, but it slipped through his hands. This was costly, as Carr threw a touchdown to an open Ameer Abdullah on the wheel route to wrap up an 11-play, 75-yard drive. Quandre Diggs was burned on the play. 7-7.
After a Seattle punt, the Raiders got the ball back but just as quickly gave it away on another interception by Quandre Diggs. Carr was looking for TE Foster Moreau, but Cody Barton got a hand on it and Diggs was able to get his second pick of the afternoon.
Geno almost gave it right back on consecutive red zone throws that were nearly intercepted in the end zone. The 3rd down pass into the back of the end zone for Duron Harmon was overturned after it was confirmed that Harmon had bobbled the ball on the way down. No interception after all and that resulted in a
chipshot Jason Myers field goal. 10-7 Seahawks.

@GenoSmith3 finds a way. His most improbable completions through week 12.
2nd Quarter
Vegas went three-and-out and the Seahawks went to work with a couple of nice throws from Geno Smith to DK Metcalf, but on 4th and 1 an illegal man downfield penalty on Phil Haynes negated a conversion to Tyler Lockett inside the Raiders’ 5. Jason Myers had to come out for the field goal and he banged one
through from 34. 13-7 Seahawks.
The Raiders resorted to some trickery to take their first lead of the afternoon. Facing 1st and 10 at Seattle’s 36, a flea flicker back to Carr turned into an easy throw to a crossing Mack Hollins who jogged in for the touchdown. 14-13 Raiders.
Geno was intercepted by Denzel Perryman on what looked like a route mix-up between Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf, who ran into each other and led to the pick. Josh Jacobs bullied the entire Seahawks defense for a 30-yard touchdown on the next play. 21-13 Raiders.
Smith responded to the pick by coming out firing on all cylinders. Five straight completions culminated in a beautiful touchdown from Smith to Tyler Lockett for 35 yards. 21-20 Seahawks.
The Raiders tried to enter halftime with more points on the board and they converted a key 4th and 2 on a run with Josh Jacobs to the outside. Tariq Woolen could not make the tackle in the backfield and Jacobs got Vegas into field goal range. A throw from Carr to Foster Moreau put Vegas in the red zone. Curiously,
the Raiders opted to kick a field goal with :14 left instead of going for an end zone shot. Daniel Carlson made his field goal from 36 out. 24-20 Raiders.
3rd Quarter
The Seahawks regained the lead with a 7-play, 75-yard drive that featured a couple of easy catch-and runs for Tyler Lockett and Marquise Goodwin, and then an angry run (aided by his teammates) by Kenneth Walker III for his second teeder. 27-24 Seahawks.
Vegas responded with a run-heavy 68-yard drive that saw both Josh Jacobs and rookie running back Zamir White feast on a porous Seahawks defensive line. Curiously, on 4th and 1 inside the 10-yard line the Raiders opted to kick a field goal. Yeah. Daniel Carlson tied it up. 27-27.
Both teams exchanged punts to cap off a quarter in which the Raiders really did whatever they wanted on the ground, but a Foster Moreau dropped a gimme 3rd down pass that would’ve extended the drive.
@Travishomer4 delivering the fourth quarter TD!
4th Quarter
A promising 9-play, 63-yard drive was ended abruptly by a botched exchange between Geno Smith and Kenneth Walker. It looked like Walker wasn’t expecting to get the ball and the end result was a fumble and a Chandler Jones recovery deep in Raiders territory. Josh Jacobs continued barreling through the
Seahawks defense on his way to over 100 yards on the ground and over 50 through the air. Faced with 4th and inches near midfield, a toss to Jacobs was STUFFED by Ryan Neal and Cody Barton for a turnover on downs. Huge!
Off the stop, the Seahawks took advantage of the short field. A 3rd down holding on Rock Ya-Sin extended Seattle’s drive on what was otherwise an incomplete pass to Tyler Lockett. On the next 3rd and 1, Geno found Travis Homer out in the flat, and he broke free for an 18-yard go-ahead touchdown. 34-27
Seahawks with 5:37 to go.
After a horrible overthrow by Carr to Foster Moreau, Davante Adams made a spectacular grab for 28 yards with Michael Jackson draped all over him. The Raiders got inside the 10 with a goal-to-go when Josh Jacobs fumbled. Incredibly, they ruled his forward progress stopped and the Seahawks couldn’t challenge
what would’ve been a fumble and a clear recovery by Bruce Irvin. On 3rd and goal from the 6 out of the two-minute warning, Derek Carr found Foster Moreau for the touchdown. 34-34 with 1:54 to go.
Smith checked it down to DeeJay Dallas for 5 yards. Geno then found Marquise Goodwin for a first down at their own 35. A pass to Lockett bounced short and incomplete. A diving catch by Metcalf was made and he rolled out of bounds. Upon review the play was overturned as not having control. Wow. Geno was
sacked by Maxx Crosby on the next play and forced Seattle to punt with :48 left. A booming punt by Michael Dickson was dropped by Keelan Cole but he recovered it at his own 9. That seemingly compelled the Raiders to play for overtime.
Overtime
The Raiders won the coin toss and converted a 3rd and 5 to Keelan Cole for 9 yards. Josh Jacobs ran into Seahawks territory. Shelby Harris made a huge stop on Jacobs on 3rd and 1 inside Seattle’s 40, giving Josh McDaniels an interesting decision. He opted to kick a 56-yard field goal with Daniel Carlson. WIDE
RIGHT!! Seattle ball at their own 46. And they went three-and-out.
Josh Jacobs ran for 86 yards and the win. 40-34 Raiders final.

Always competing, even in rock, paper scissors.
Pete Carroll
Coach has gotten his praise and deservedly so for the way this team started. They are now in a rut and have looked unprepared defensively in back to back weeks and continue to make backbreaking mistakes on offense. That falls on Pete and this staff because Seattle plays too many games with such fine margins for
this to keep happening regardless of which team he trots out.
Winners
DK Metcalf
Screw that overturn on the catch in the 4th quarter. Metcalf posted 11 catches on 90 yards on 15 targets and was extremely effective in the quick passing game to offset his near total erasure as an intermediate and long ball threat. There was only one splash play but DK was a quality safety valve.
Marquise Goodwin
Goodwin had 46 yards on 3 catches, all of which gained first downs. He also took a jet sweep for 7 yards that set up a touchdown on the next play. Goodwin continues to be a valuable third receiver in ways I didn’t really anticipate.
Travis Homer
Speaking of safety valves, Homer converted a 2nd and 23 into a 27-yard gain on a scramble drill with Geno Smith. His next catch was an 18-yard touchdown out in the flat in which he broke multiple tackles to get into the end zone. That should’ve been the game winner if not for, you know...
Seattle’s draft stock
They’re now out of the playoffs as things stand and the Denver Broncos lost again, with no winning streak in sight. The Raiders winning actually moved the Denver pick higher up so amazing 4D chess on display.

Dang it, dang it, dang it. They could have won that game, should have won that game, and by all accounts, the Raiders tried to give them that game.
But of course, things ended up materializing quite differently than many of us anticipate... The Seattle Seahawks stayed at home following their bye and hosted the Las Vegas Raiders, who entered this game holding a 3-7 record. Things got going pretty quick for the Seahawks, as Quandre Diggs jumped Derek Carr’s
first pass... and then intercepted another shortly later. Unfortunately, this defense wouldn’t keep up this torrid pace all afternoon, as the team ultimately fell to the Raiders in overtime. A disappointing ending, to be sure, but it was an exciting game nonetheless. Still, confidence is rapidly eroding in this once plucky
team that is starting to look just a little bit... less plucky.
To really understand this game, though, you need to understand how a particular sequence of plays late in the fame unfolded. First, the Seahawks’ defense appeared to force a critical red zone turnover on a Josh Jones fumble that Bruce Irvin recovered, but the play appeared to have been ruled down by down by
contact. Pete Carroll had a particularly dramatic mic red flag drop on what appeared to be a fumble, but it was ultimately nullified by the chicanery that was about to follow.
Following the instantly infamous “forward progress” ruling, DK Metcalf had what appeared to be a reception and a first down taken away following an official review. Of course, I take no credit for any of the opinions expressed below, but the officials made some interesting (translation: game-altering) calls that
generated some equally interesting reactions.
But you can’t blame anybody other than the Seahawks for letting yet another team run all over them. This defense has returned to its early season form, and the inspiring stops on 3rd/4th and short shouldn’t cloud the fact that they can’t consistently stop anybody.
But optimism isn’t completely off the table, as the Seahawks aren’t out of this one. They may be on the outside looking in, but they have some big games looming and can still get back on the right track.
The Offense had their ups and downs, but as they have shown for much of this season, they are more than capable of putting points on the board. The play calling may have been a bit uneven, but it was sporadically impressive, especially in some critical moments. Plus, Kenneth Walker found the end zone a couple
more times today, even on an afternoon where he could find zero daylight otherwise.
Quandre Diggs had an incredible first quarter, picking off Derek Carr twice!
All thoughts with Ryan Neal, who is an awesome guy and a huge part of this defense.

1st Quarter
Tampa Bay received the opening kick after the Seahawks won the coin toss. Tom Brady got the ball first and went three-and-out. Tariq Woolen was tested on 3rd and 10 but Brady overshot Julio Jones and no flag was thrown for pass interference. Seattle’s first offensive possession saw DK Metcalf get a first down
reception, but then the Seahawks lost ground on the next series of downs through a penalty and a 17-yard sack and punted it right back.
A big pass to Mike Evans on a crosser put Tampa Bay in field goal range, but a holding penalty took them out of it. When they got back into range, Ryan Succop hooked his 52-yard kick wide right. Seattle couldn’t take advantage as Damien Lewis’ personal foul penalty put them back 15 yards and out of Tampa Bay
territory, and the 3rd and 24 play to Noah Fant gained 18 but not enough to sway Pete Carroll into going for it on 4th and 6 at Tampa’s 39.

A Sunday spectacle in Munich. #GoHawks x @lumentechco
Turns out the punt was a bad thing. Tom Brady led a 13-play, 88-yard drive that included a lot of running by Rachaad White and Leonard Fournette. On 3rd down and 10, Brady found Julio Jones wide open on a crossing route and no one followed him. Easy touchdown. 7-0 Buccaneers.
The Seahawks promptly went three-and-out with Geno Smith curiously not running on 3rd and 2 when he had space to do so, instead throwing an incomplete pass to Tyler Lockett. Another 13-play, 86-yard drive by Tampa was capped off by a 1-yard touchdown run by Leonard Fournette. Brady was dialed in and the
coverage busts were frequent, as were the 3rd down conversions. 14-0 Buccaneers.
Another Seahawks drive, another handful of plays and a punt. Just no one getting open and Tampa Bay dominating Seattle’s offensive line in terms of stopping the run. Thankfully a huge Michael Dickson punt backed Tampa up at their own 3, and Tampa went three-and-out. Seattle did zippo with their two-minute

3 takeaways from Seahawks' disappointing loss to Buccaneers in Munich
The Seahawks' four-game winning streak was snapped at Allianz Arena early on Sunday morning.
MUNICH, Germany — As the old saying goes, all good things must come to an end.
Early Sunday morning, it was the Seahawks' four-game winning streak that reached its conclusion, as Seattle lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFL's first-ever regular-season game in Germany.
Following the trip overseas, the Seahawks will have a bye week to rest up before taking on the Raiders on Nov. 27 at Lumen Field.
Here are three takeaways from the Seahawks' disappointing loss across the pond:
Struggles stopping the run
Tampa Bay came in with one of the NFL's worst rushing games, ranking dead-last in yards per attempt coming into Sunday's game. The Buccaneers proceeded to gash the Seahawks for 161 yards on the ground, including 105 from backup Rachaad White.
Time of possession was also heavily in favor of the Buccaneers, as Tampa Bay grinded the clock and kept the Seahawks' offense on the sideline for the majority of the game.
To add insult to injury, the Buccaneers converted 10-of-15 attempts on third down. After a few solid performances in a row, this was a step back for defensive coordinator Clint Hurtt's unit.
Geno is human after all
The Seahawks' quarterback came crashing back to earth on Sunday, as he and the offense were held scoreless throughout the first 30 minutes of game action.
Although his typical counting stats look solid, much of that came late as Seattle narrowed the margin late, but ultimately failed to overcome the early deficit.
Smith finished with 23-of-33 completions for 275 yards with two touchdown passes and one interception. He also had a very costly fumble on a confounding play in the third quarter, losing it at the Bucs' 9-yard line and ending a promising 10-play Seahawks drive with no points to show for it.
Third-down woes
The Seahawks defense had a hard time getting off the field, and the offense had an even tougher time staying on it. Seattle converted just 1 of its 9 attempts on third down Sunday, and the team ran 24 fewer plays than the Buccaneers did.
Sustaining drives is key to winning consistently in the NFL, and a lackluster running game forced Smith into a number of difficult situations where the defense knew he was going to throw.
Seattle totaled just 39 rushing yards, including a paltry 17 on 10 carries for Kenneth Walker III. Getting the ground game back into a groove should be a focus once the team returns from its upcoming bye week.
The Seahawks came out of halftime firing, and Geno Smith’s first four passes all gained first downs. Eventually the drive stalled in field goal range, and DK Metcalf then got flagged for uh... I guess saying something to an official. Probably a bad word with a pointy gesture. Jason Myers still converted from 55. 14-3 Buccaneers.
Tampa was marching it down Seattle’s throats again and then just randomly decided to let Leonard Fournette throw it to Tom Brady. Tariq Woolen wasn’t fooled. Worst trick play of the year.

The Seattle Seahawks winning streak has been snapped. It was fun while it lasted, at least. But even in a disappointing loss, there were still some decent highlights mixed in. Like Tariq Woolen’s interception on a pass intended for — not thrown by — Tom Brady!
Woolen wasn’t alone either, as Cody Barton snagged his first interception of the season, as well.
Seattle carved up the Bucs with effective passing from Geno... right up until he bailed on a pocket early and fumbled in the red zone. Just inexcusable. It might have actually been a QB draw but it was abominable either way.
4th Quarter
That turnover led to a long touchdown drive on a Brady to Godwin connection. 21-3 Buccaneers.
A 5-play, 77-yard drive that was heavy on Kenneth Walker III receptions but was wrapped up with a Geno dime to Tyler Lockett for a 21-yard touchdown. Seattle opted to go for 2 with 8:20 left but the pass was incomplete. 21-9 Seahawks.

A key 3rd down stop could’ve been in the cards for the Seahawks defense, but Jordyn Brooks slipped covering Ke’Shawn Vaughn on a checkdown and he gave up the first down, turning his ankle in the process. Two plays later Cody Barton picked off Brady on a seam pass for a huge play!
Tom Brady throws interception straight to the Seahawks Defense
Seattle converted not one but two fourth downs on their 8-play, 45-yard drive! Geno Smith completed one to Tyler Lockett and then a touchdown to Marquise Goodwin. WOW! 21-16 Buccaneers with 3:58 to go.
The Seahawks defense needed to make another stop and uh... yeah they didn’t. 21-16 Buccaneers FINAL.

MUNICH, Germany — When Wallace Watts found out his Seattle Seahawks were playing an NFL game in Germany, he booked a flight and the tour buses.
"This is how we do it as 12s," said Watts, who fans recognize as Captain Seahawk.
He's leading a group of about 200 Seahawks fans who made the long journey to Munich to see the team take on the Tamp Bay Buccaneers. And like any good trip, there's always sightseeing.
"In the olden times, a warring faction would come to town yelling and screaming and dressed up," Watts said. "That's our plan. We want to wake up Munich."
