Rome. The state that grew from tiny settlements around the Palatine Hill in central Italy into a vast empire that ruled most of western Europe and the Mediterranean for centuries and set the framework for the states of today. Let us embark on a journey
through time, from Augustus, the first emperor of Rome, to the final ruler of the Byzantine Empire. Along the way, we'll encounter both great and terrible emperors, and witness golden and tumultuous ages. The map shows the territory controlled by the
emperor at the end of his reign. Co-ruling emperors are connected by a line.
Belisarius: The Battle of Rome (3/6)
In the 6th century 534 AD, during the reign of Emperor Justinian, the Roman Empire experienced an extraordinary resurgence, reconquering lands - including Italy, North Africa and Rome itself - that had been lost to the 'barbarians' a century before. Leading
these campaigns, a brilliant Roman general named Flavius Belisarius - a skilled tactician, inspirational leader, pragmatic and humane.
#Seahawks are in discussions with free-agent corner Shaquill Griffin on a potential reunion, sources told@BradyHenderson and me. Seattle is looking for veteran corner help and has Griffin - who made a Pro Bowl as a Seahawk in 2019 - high on its list.
No deal reached as of now.
There was no word or report during the game on the severity of Garver's injury or if he's expected to miss an extended period of time. It was just the third game for Garver since June 20. He was hitting .300 (3-for-10) with two home runs, three runs and five RBIs on the team's current road trip.
Seattledoesn't have a third catcher currently on the active roster. Infielder Leo Rivas was the team's emergency catcher in situations like Thursday, but was optioned to the Triple-A Tacoma Rainiers on May 31.
If Garver is out for an extended period of time, the Mariners could bring up top 100 prospect Harry Ford from Tacoma or Blake Hunt, another catcher currently on the Rainiers roster.

With regards to Seattle Mariners' catcher Cal Raleigh, seemingly every day results in a history-making event.
That was certainly true on Monday as Raleigh went 2-for-5 with a home run in an 11-2 win over the Minnesota Twins at Target Field.
The home run was his 32nd homer of the year, which is the most in major league baseball. He joins Ken Griffey Jr. as the only Mariners players to ever hit 30 or more before the All-Star break, and he's now homered in four straight games.
Per @OptaSTATS:
Cal Raleigh of the @Mariners has 14 RBI and 12 runs in his last six games, four of which he started at catcher. No other catcher since RBI became official (1920) has had a six-game stretch with 12+ RBI and 12+ runs.
And per Cameron Van Til of Seattle Sports 710:
Cal Raleigh just became the seventh player in MLB history with at least 32 home runs in the first 77 games of his team's season.
The others? Babe Ruth (twice), Barry Bonds, Mark McGwire, Reggie Jackson, Ken Griffey Jr. and Luis Gonzalez.
And from Gary Hill Jr. of the Mariners' broadcast team:
Cal Raleigh Homers:
June: 10
May: 12
March/April: 10
The first Seattle Mariner AND Catcher in MLB history to hit double-digit homers in 3 straight months
