Joel Dahmen, Marshawn Lynch On The Call For Netflix's First-Ever Live Sporting Event

Netflix's first-ever live sporting event, the Netflix Cup, will pair four F1 drivers with four PGA Tour players—a natural debut given their two smash hit docuseries with Drive to Survive and Full Swing. The drivers will be in town because the first-ever Las Vegas Grand Prix is next Saturday,

Nov. 18, and the golfers have plenty of time on their schedule with this being the dead period before the PGA Tour picks back up in earnest come January.

The matchups for the event, which is set for 6 pm EST/3pm PST at the Wynn Golf Club in Las Vegas, are as follows:

Lando Norris and Rickie Fowler vs. Carlos Sainz and Justin Thomas

Each foursome will play an eight-hole match with some "surprise challenges" interspersed. The two winning teams will advance to a sudden-death ninth hole. All that sounds relatively familiar given all the editions of "The Match" that we've seen before. What's more interesting about this

shindig—besides, of course, where it's airing—is the crew of announcers, none of which have much of a golf broadcasting background.

There's comedian Bert Kresicher; sports broadcaster Kay Adams; PGA Tour player Joel Dahmen, who continues to reap the benefits of his appearance on Full Swing; and Marshawn Lynch. Yes, Beast Mode will be live on the call for Netflix's first live sporting event. It'll be interesting to see

how Netflix wants this event to look and sound. Both Full Swing and Drive to Survive are fly-on-the-wall type documentaries; they don't bleep out words or sugar coat anything. That's obviously in stark contrast to the cable TV golf specials we've seen in the past, which have involved

trash talking but all of the PG variety.

It'll also be an interesting test-run for the golfers, all four of whom are signed up to participate in Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy's TGL simulator league, which begins in January. The success of those broadcasts, like this one, will depend largely on how entertaining the players are in this

semi-casual setting. It's nice to see golf as a whole, and the golfers themselves, lean into the "we're entertainers" mindset.

Geno Smith comes through in clutch, Seahawks beat Commanders in 29-26 thriller

The Seahawks offense came alive in the 2nd half to get a vital win over the Commanders.

Somehow, I never doubted that the Hawks would win this one, and now I know why. You just can’t fake confidence like this.

The Seattle Seahawks (6-3) offense started out sluggish, but Geno Smith and company sure came through late on at a time when the defense fell apart.

After some missed opportunities and the usual inability to finish off drives with the maximum points possible, the Seahawks lit up the Washington Commanders (4-6) for 20 points in the 2nd half. Geno’s slow, nervy start gave way to a career-high 369 yards passing, 2 touchdowns, and a

clutch game-winning drive culminating in Jason Myers’ walkoff field goal with no time left. A 9-9 slog at halftime turned into a 29-26 Seahawks win that substantially boosts their hopes of another playoff berth.

Smith though he had a winning touchdown to Tyler Lockett with 3:45, but Sam Howell battled back and found Dyami Brown for a tying touchdown with under a minute left. Geno, who played turnover-free football for the first time since Week 4, got a 7-play, 50-yard drive into field goal

range. DK Metcalf finished with 7 catches for 98 yards, including two huge grabs on the final possession to help Seattle get a priceless W.

It’s frustrating, it’s exciting, it’s boring, it’s dramatic, it’s Seahawks football. What else do you expect? The Seahawks are tied for top spot in the NFC West with the San Francisco 49ers, who beat the Jacksonville Jaguars earlier in the day.

1st Quarter

The Commanders got the ball and immediately scored. Not literally, but we’re talking a grand total of four plays. Sam Howell slipped out of a Jamal Adams blitz, and then Brian Robinson got free down the sideline for a 51-yard catch-and-run touchdown. A nightmare start for Seattle.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba got involved early on Seattle’s first drive. He caught a quick screen for 6 yards, then a 3rd and 6 conversion for 21 when he was matched up with a linebacker. A holding penalty on Charles Cross put the Seahawks behind schedule. Emmanuel Forbes lit up Tyler Lockett

on what was a 2nd and 14 drop. Forbes was penalized for the helmet-to-helmet hit and then ejected. Geno Smith was almost picked off on a screen pass, then found JSN on 3rd and 10 for 9. Instead of a 4th and 1 successful sneak, a delay of game forced the Seahawks into a field goal

attempt. Jason Myers drilled it from 45.

The Commanders only picked up one first down on their second possession before punting. Sam Howell nearly got picked by Devon Witherspoon, then checked it down on 3rd and 14 after a false start penalty put them behind the sticks. Seattle similarly only got one 1st down before

punting, as DK Metcalf dropped a pass deep down the field.

2nd Quarter

Sam Howell led a 10-play, 41-yard drive into Seahawks territory. Bad tackling by Jamal Adams led to one 3rd down conversion, while Bobby Wagner appeared to get lost on a crosser to Logan Thomas for another 3rd down pickup. Antonio Gibson’s drop almost led to a Jordyn Brooks pick,

but fell harmlessly incomplete. Joey Slye was brought on from 49 to extend the Commanders’ lead back to 6.

The Seahawks answered back with a 10-play, 51-yard drive but stalled out on a misfire from Geno to Zach Charbonnet on 3rd and 4. He might have been short of the first down anyway. Jason Myers tacked on another field goal.

Leonard Williams got the crowd riled up by sacking Sam Howell on 3rd down. The first sack as a Seahawk for the former New York Jets and Giants star!

The three-and-out parade oscillated between Seattle and Washington over the span of three possessions. Starting from their own 31, the Seahawks finally had something get into the red zone. Geno scrambled for a first down, Kenneth Walker had an explosive run, and Jake Bobo had a

catch to take Seattle inside the Commanders’ 20. Faced with 4th and 1, the Seahawks eschewed a chip shot field goal to go for it at Washington’s 10. A Geno head-bob on a hard count was ruled illegal, so subtract 5 yards.

Sam Howell completed two short passes, then Riq Woolen broke up a throw on 3rd down for a quick three-and-out. This gave the Seahawks the ball back with :54 left and all 3 timeouts. A DK Metcalf grab got them to the 44. Geno was sacked but a hold on the Commanders gave them a

free 5 yards. Zach Charbonnet got into Washington territory with :31 to go before an injured Commanders player had to be helped off the field. Another Charbonnet touch, this time a run, got Seattle into field goal range. A hold by Phil Haynes put them out of FG range, but Geno to DK

got them inside the 35 again. Then he committed intentional grounding to end the half. UNACCEPTABLE.

The Seahawks gained 258 yards after the catch in their Week 10 victory over the Commanders, the 2nd-most YAC in a game by any offense this season. The Seahawks four leading wide receivers each gained at least 40 YAC. #WASvsSEA | #Seahawks

After Ken Walker gave the Seattle Seahawks a third quarter lead over the Washington Commanders, Devon Witherspoon ripped the ball away from the Washington offense.

3rd Quarter

Out of the gate, a pair of 3-yard runs by Walker and the first Smith sack of the game by Jonathan Allen. The boos were loud. Washington’s first possession out of halftime saw Sam Howell again scramble and find a wide open Brian Robinson for 48 yards. The running back leaked out of

the backfield and raced down the sideline almost exactly like the touchdown. Thankfully, Seattle’s defense tightened up and Boye Mafe extended his sack streak to seven games. Joey Slye regained the lead for the Commanders from 47 out.

At last! At last a touchdown! Geno Smith completed a pass to DK Metcalf for 11, then found Ken Walker on a checkdown for a 64-yard catch-and-run touchdown! The first touchdown by Seahawks in seven quarters!

Seattle got a turnover off of Sam Howell. The read-option fooled the Seahawks defensive line, but Devon Witherspoon was there to strip Howell and Riq Woolen was on the spot for the recovery! Howell was on top of Quandre Diggs in that crazy sequence.

Seattle committed a couple of holding penalties and nuked their own drive, of course.

Sam Howell had a decent drive going until Dre’Mont Jones and Bobby Wagner converged on the second-year quarterback for a sack. Wagner broke up a 3rd and 16 pass to Curtis Samuel to get off the field.

4th Quarter

The Seahawks got to Washington’s 36 and were faced with a 4th and 1 up by just 4. They went for it and Zach Charbonnet gained 7 yards to move the chains. That was the end of the movement, and Jason Myers ended up with his fourth field goal of the day to make it a 7-point

Seahawks lead.

Washington curiously made almost no effort to run the ball, then they finally realized they could. Brian Robinson and Antonio Gibson bullied the Seahawks to get to the Seattle 41 in just three plays. A few snaps later, Sam Howell was hit by Boye Mafe but still found Antonio Gibson for a

tying touchdown.

The Seahawks got out of a 1st and 15 jam by getting an 11-yard catch-and-run to Tyler Lockett, followed by a 5-yard pitch to Ken Walker. A beaut from Geno to Lockett got them into Commanders territory. A throw to Noah Fant lost 2 yards, setting up 4th and 5. Seattle went for it

instead of kick a long field goal. Geno saw DK Metcalf get mugged, threw it his way, and got the first down. Too many men in the huddle gifted teh Seahawks another 5. A crosser to Lockett put the Seahawks in the red zone. Benjamin St. Juste, who committed PI earlier on DK, got

dinged for face masking Ken Walker. Two plays later, Geno to Lockett on the sprint right throw for the lead with 3:45 to go.

And here is a clip of Emmanuel Forbes leaving the field.

The Seahawks went on to kick a field goal on the drive, to get on the board early and cut the Washington lead to 6-3, and the Hawks will have Lockett at their disposal when they are back on offense after he was cleared to return.

A slant to Terry McLaurin put the Commanders just shy of midfield ahead of the two-minute warning. Howell threw it away under heavy pressure on 1st and 10 out of the 2MW. A drop by Jameson Crowder on 2nd and 10 when he could’ve had a first down. Sam Howell put it on him and

he missed the catch. Facing 3rd and 10, Howell found Antonio Gibson for 9 yards, putting them at 4th and 1 but with a timeout taken. The Commanders had all 3 timeouts to start the drive and wound up with just 1 with 1:28 to go. Game on the line... slant to McLaurin for a first down.

No good on the next pass to Jahan Dotson over the middle. Howell evades pressure and nearly picked by Diggs! Then a touchdown by Dyami Brown for 35 yards on 3rd and 10 as he caught it and took off for the score with :52 to go.

Geno and DK put the Seahawks in FG Position!

Geno still had 2 timeouts left to do something in regulation. Short gain by Charbonnet and he stayed in bounds, resulting in another timeout taken. Another Charbonnet checkdown but he gets out of bounds. Geno to DK near midfield with :28 to go! Batted down pass on 1st and 10 with

:24 to go. DK with the catch and run down to the Washington 25! Spike with :03! Jason Myers from 43 for the win... MONEY!!!! SEAHAWKS WIN!

NFL Fans Were In Disbelief Over What Blonde Female Fan Did To Lions RB Jahmyr Gibbs After His TD (VIDEO)

Jahmyr Gibbs in crowd

Jahmyr Gibbs in crowd

NFL fans were left in awe after ESPN cameras caught what a female fan was able to do during Monday Night Football.

Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs got up close and personal with the fans as he ripped off a 27-yard touchdown and proceeded to not only leap into the crowd but get in the stands to celebrate.

He likely would’ve never made it there if not for one woman.

Cameras caught a lady sitting in the front row showcasing her strength by pulling the Lions rookie running back into the crowd by herself.

Fans were in shock:

Gibbs finished the game rushing for 152 yards and scored one touchdown in the Lions 26-14 win over the Raiders. Gibbs’ performance also catapulted him to third place in rookie rushing yards this season (399) and fourth in all-purpose yards (564).

The Lions head into the Week 9 bye with a 6-2 record, while the Raiders dropped to 3-5 and will face the New York Giants at home next Sunday.

The Detroit Lions are right behind the Philadelphia Eagles for the best record in the entire NFC.

OCT. 30 JAMAL ADAMS USES HEAD TO HELP SEAHAWKS' RALLY - When they needed a big takeaway Sunday against the Browns, Seahawks' star safety Jamal Adams used his big head. A deflected interception in the last two minutes turned out to be one of the biggest plays

in Seattle's dramatic 24-20 victory.

The ball caromed off the head of Adams, winding up in the arms of safety Julian Love.

Joked Adams on Twitter: "Learned this one from Messi himself!!"

While soccer star Lionel Messi came to America and lit up Major League Soccer with a flurry of spectacular goals, Adams and the Seahawks will gladly settle for a comeback victory, a 5-2 record and first place in the NFC West.

Ricky Pierce said George Karl benching him after his fight with Gary Payton cost Seattle the series against the 8th-seeded Denver in 1994

Story by Orel Dizon

In 1994, the NBA world watched the Denver Nuggets pull off one of the biggest upsets in basketball history by defeating the No. 1-seeded Seattle SuperSonics. The Nuggets had various players step up at the right time, but plenty of things also went wrong for the Sonics side.

For instance, a fight between teammates Gary Payton and Ricky Pierce in Game 2 hit the squad's chemistry hard. Even though they went up 2-0 after the altercation, it was clear that things had changed. Pierce also saw his minutes go down in the following games, which the retired

swingman said was why Seattle collapsed in the series.

"I think it was George [Karl] 's fault that he cowered out and benched me," Pierce said. "That cost us that series. He didn't say one word. He didn't even say anything."

The Payton-Pierce incident

It's still unclear what exactly led to "The Glove" and "Deuces" going at each other in the locker room during halftime of Game 2, with Karl saying it got to the point where the players were threatening to bring out guns and kill each other's families.

While Pierce has publicly said the squabble was caused by his disagreement with Payton's ball distribution, the legendary point guard attributed it to the oldhead's lack of respect. GP once shared that his teammate talked to him as if he was a little kid.

Gary Payton on Threatening to Get a Gun and Kill Ricky Pierce's Family During Argument (Part 10)

Karl appeared to have sided with his star playmaker, as Pierce saw the court an average of around 11 minutes per game in the final three contests, posting just 5.0 points per contest. In contrast, the former Sixth Man of the Year recorded 20.0 minutes and 12.5 points per game in the first two bouts.

"Big Paper Daddy" may have overstated his value

Pierce was an essential piece of the Sonics' rotation, especially during his previous two seasons with the franchise. However, he lost his starting spot after Seattle acquired Kendall Gill in the 1993 offseason. He probably lost the respect of members of the organization after his feud with

Payton changed the locker room atmosphere for the worse.

Still, the primary reason the Sonics lost was that the Nuggets just played better. In particular, Dikembe Mutombo's defense was on full display, particularly in the last three contests, where he rejected a total of 22 shots. In the series, he racked up 31 blocks.

Denver also had different players take charge on offense, such as Reggie Williams in Game 3 (31 points and eight assists), LaPhonso Ellis in Game 4 (27 points and 17 rebounds), and Robert Pack (23 points and three 3-pointers off the bench).

As Karl once said, it was a perfect storm for the Sonics. It could have been the ideal time for them to win a ring, as they had the best record in the regular season that year, and no Michael Jordan would have stood in their way if they reached the Finals. However, with such a volatile

locker room, it just wasn't meant to be.

BREAKING: LeBron James Made NBA History In Magic-Lakers Game

Story by Ben Stinar

On Monday evening, the Los Angeles Lakers are hosting the Orlando Magic in California.

They are on the second night of a back-to-back after losing to the Sacramento Kings by a score of 132-127 in overtime.

Against the Magic, LeBron James is playing in his 1,425th game, which passes Kevin Willis for eighth on the all-time regular season games played list

The next player for James to pass will be Kevin Garnett (1,462).

Via The Lakers: "Another milestone.

LeBron has passed Kevin Willis for 8th-most games played in NBA history 📝"

Through the first three games of the season, the Lakers have gone 1-2, and James has averages of 23.0 points, 10.3 rebounds, 7.3 assists and 1.0 steals per contest while shooting 57.1% from the field.

He is in his 21st season in the NBA (his sixth with the Lakers), and at 38, the 19-time All-Star still remains among the best players in the league.

Last season, James averaged a fantastic 28.9 points, 8.3 rebounds and 6.8 assists per contest while shooting 50.0% from the field and 32.1% from the three-point range.

Following the Magic, the Lakers will play their next game on Wednesday evening against the Los Angeles Clippers.

Last season, the Lakers were the seventh seed in the Western Conference with a 43-39 record.

They made the Conference Finals but were swept by Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets.

James has led the Lakers to the NBA playoffs three times, and they won the 2020 NBA Championship over the Miami Heat.

Comebacking Seattle Seahawks safety Jamal Adams claimed he drew inspiration from soccer great Lionel Messi on Sunday. However, Adams’ fellow Seahawks safety Julian Love had a diferent perspective. Adams reminded him of soccer legend Cristiano Ronaldo, per The Seattle

Times’ Adam Jude.

“He was prime (Cristiano) Ronaldo right there. That play is all credit to ‘Mal. The way he plays – the passion, the energy, the physicality. If he’s not pressuring the way he is, that play never happens. And who knows what happened at the end? That’s Jamal Adams,” Julian Love said.

Was Jamal Adams more like Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo in Week 8?

Jamal Adams came up big against the Browns in Week 8. He tried to fend off a block from Cleveland right guard Wyat Teller on third-and-three with just 1:57 left in the game.

Browns quarterback PJ Walker threw a short slant for Amari Cooper.  However, the ball somehow bounced off Jamal Adams’ helmet and into the waiting hands of Julian Love.

The Seahawks regained possession and marched downfield 43 yards for the winning touchdown. Geno Smith threw the winning touchdown pass to Seahawks rookie wideout Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski regretted drawing up the costly botched pass play after the game.

On the other hand, Jamal Adams’ timely deflection had Lionel Messi’s (Cristiano Ronaldo’s long-time rival) name written all over it.

It’s great to see Jamal Adams regaining some of the form that made him a three-time Pro Bowler with the Seahawks. To see him coming off an injury-ravaged 2022 NFL season and make a big-time play in crunch time is even better.

Bear in mind Jamal Adams suffered a concussion in the first play of the Seahawks’ 24-3 rout of the New York Giants earlier this month. Although adversity has stared Adams right in the face several times, his relentlessness has been paying off big time.

Dee Eskridge apologizes for incident that led to six-game suspension

Seahawks receiver Dee Eskridge apologized for the circumstances that led to his six-game suspension to start the season. Eskridge was suspended in August for a domestic violence incident with his child's mother.

"First off, I would just like to apologize to the organization, apologize to my family, to everybody that was affected by it," Eskridge said after practice Friday, via Curtis Crabtree of Fox 13 Seattle. "I take full responsibility in this situation, and I’ve grown from it and I’m just ready to get it

behind me and be the person I’m meant to be and not all of this stuff."

Eskridge was arrested in February, and misdemeanor charges were filed. He entered into an agreement with prosecutors that calls for him to complete a course of domestic violence moral recognition therapy.

Charges will be dropped in 12 months if he completes the therapy.

"Everybody goes through different things and handles in different ways," Eskridge said. "So just being able to, you know, get tools. I'm doing therapy. You know, I've been doing that. So it's just helping me grow as a man. I'm a young man. Everybody makes mistakes."

Between the suspension and injuries, Eskridge has appeared in only 20 of 34 regular-season games in the past two years and has 17 catches for 122 yards and a touchdown.

Eskridge injured a knee on the opening kickoff of the preseason and missed the rest of training camp. Then, came his six-game suspension to open the season.

"It was definitely tough," Eskridge said. "That was another brick wall but, you know, as this league teaches us, your plan isn't really always the plan. It's whatever God wants. So you know, I just took it to the chin, got back healthy and now I'm ready."

The Seahawks are expected to move Eskridge to the active roster Saturday, allowing him to make his 2023 debut Sunday.

"He’s come back ready to go," Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said. "He’s really prepared well to do that."

‘Big time player’: Torey Lovullo makes Corey Seager admission after Diamondbacks’ World Series Game 1 loss

10/28/23

Story by Quinn Allen

The Arizona Diamondbacks were just three outs away from taking Game 1 of the World Series on Friday night against the Texas Rangers, but shortstop Corey Seager stepped up and clubbed a two-run moonshot homer to tie the game at five and force extra innings. The Rangers

ultimately won in extras thanks to the red-hot Adolis Garcia and after the contest, D-Backs skipper Torey Lovullo couldn’t help but praise Seager, who is built for the big moments.

Via Bill Shaikin:

“Big-time players do big-time things in big-time moments.”

Ain’t that a fact. After all, Seager was doing these types of things for years with the Los Angeles Dodgers. This ain’t new. The slugger managed to take Arizona closer Paul Sewald deep, who rarely gives up any hits, never mind runs. But, it had to happen sooner or later.

As previously mentioned, Garcia stepped up and went yard to right field in the bottom of the 11th to give Texas the 6-5 victory over the Diamondbacks, sending Globe Life Field into a frenzy. Certainly a disappointing outcome for Lovullo’s group, but the NL champions did show they

belong on the biggest stage in the sport.

Arizona went down 2-0 in the first inning but proceeded to put up a three-spot in the top of the third. Ketel Marte also made all sorts of history in Game 1 of the Fall Classic, becoming the first player in franchise history to register 20 hits in a single postseason. With a 17-game hitting

streak in the playoffs, tied for the longest streak ever, the second baseman is on the brink of setting another record if he reaches safely on Saturday.

Merrill Kelly and Jordan Montgomery will go toe to toe in Game 2 on Saturday.

Considering the Mariners' recent struggles with runners in scoring position, Kelenic's approach on Tuesday night could be a remedy.

"Jarred did an awesome job laying off pitches to get into those counts and then get the ball up," Servais said. "In those situations, he handles the ball up very well. He got some pitches up and just served them into left field, that's all we need. We don't need a big homer there. Just keep the line moving and pick up

those guys in scoring position."

Though the Mariners, Astros and Rangers are all tied up in the loss column, Seattle is currently on the outside looking in at the playoff picture at the moment. That can change with a sweep in Oakland and a strong performance in the club's final 10 games, which feature seven against Texas and three against Houston.

It'll be a sprint to the finish line, but the Mariners are taking it one day at a time.

"The goal is [to] come in here and win this series, but we need to sweep it tomorrow," Servais said. "We've got [to have] the series under our belt, because we have a lot of big games yet ahead of us."

Story by Brady Farkas

The Seattle Mariners beat the Oakland Athletics 5-0 on Monday night in a pivotal win in the American League playoff race.

The victory moved Seattle to 82-68 on the year and pulled them into a tie with the Texas Rangers for the third and final wild card spot in the American League. It also pulled them to within 1.0 game of the second spot and within 1.5 games of the Houston Astros in the American League West.

Also, the win assured that the Mariners will have a winning record in 2023. It's the third year in a row for the M's with that distinction, and they are trying to make the playoffs for the second straight season.

Rookie Bryan Woo went five scoreless innings, striking out six. He then passed it off to Tayler Saucedo, Justin Topa, Trent Thornton and Isaiah Campbell, who all tossed scoreless innings as well.

With the shutout, the M's set a new team record for shutouts this season. Per @MarinersPR

The @Mariners record their 16th shutout win of the season, setting a franchise record for most shutouts in a season. Seattle’s 16 shutouts also lead @MLB, ranking ahead of Atlanta (15).

What the Mariners' staff has accomplished this year has been quite impressive considering they lost rotation stalwarts Robbie Ray and Marco Gonzales for the season to injury. Ray only made one start, getting hurt in the second game of the year.

The Mariners will take on the Athletics again on Tuesday night with first pitch at 9:40. For scoreboard watching purposes, the Blue Jays battle the Yankees and the Rangers host the Red Sox.

Oliver Anthony Makes His Nashville Debut — With a Band

Story by Joseph Hudak

Oliver Anthony set foot in Nashville for the first time this weekend, making his Music City debut not at the Grand Ole Opry or the Ryman Auditorium, but at the annual birthday-party-slash-block-party thrown by Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge. The honky-tonk marked its 63rd anniversary with its usual shut-down-the-street

blowout and a lineup featuring Jamey Johnson, Randy Houser, Lee Brice, and X-rated country character Wheeler Walker Jr.

But it was Anthony who brought the most buzz, as well as his Bible. After joining Johnson and Houser onstage for a rendition of Johnson’s “In Color,” Anthony opened to Matthew 10:26-33 and read a passage about how there is “nothing concealed that will not be disclosed.” Then he and his guitarist, Joey Davis, sang

an original titled “Cobwebs and Cocaine.”

Of course, the gathered crowd — a mix of locals, tourists, and sad San Diego Chargers fans who watched their team lose to the Tennessee Titans a few hours earlier — were clamoring for “Rich Men North of Richmond,” Anthony’s two-week Number One single that catapulted him into the public eye, onto Joe Rogan’s

podcast, and, most recently, between presidential hopeful Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and wife Cheryl Hines for a photo op. But this version of “Rich Men” was different: For the first time, it featured a full band. Houser’s band backed him, in fact; they learned the song prior to the performance and gave the previously bare-

bones lament a shot of country swing.

Anthony acknowledged the crowd on multiple occasions and seemed awed by both the reception and the canyon of neon lights framing the bars of Lower Broadway in front of him. Beer was everywhere, and at one point during “Rich Men” a female fan started gyrating, while over Anthony’s shoulder, a billboard flashed

ads for new albums by Brothers Osborne and Tyler Childers. It was an odd scene, but one that further proved the populist appeal of the Virginia songwriter — even if it still seems to befuddle Anthony himself.

“I’m the biggest sorry sack of s*** in this town,” he said before reading his Bible verse, “so don’t think I’m coming off preaching to you.”

Wow. Just wow. The Seattle Seahawks got their first win of the season in an overtime thriller over the Detroit Lions. They actually had a lot of firsts in that game; they got their first sack and pick-6, on back to back plays... by the same player (Tre Brown). Geno Smith put up his first 300-yard, multi-touchdown

performance. To name a few. It was also their first game starting back-up tackles at both spots, and despite a lot of anxiety ahead of time, they actually performed quite well.

Just went it seemed like the Seahawks were out of it, they roared back to outscore the Lions 24-7 and take a two-score game late into the 4th quarter. But the Lions went on their own run to force overtime, and what looked like a sure-thing suddenly turned into a heartbreaker in the making. Geno Smith was having

none of it though and led a 9-play, 75-yard drive culminating in the Tyler Lockett walk-off game winner. The defense needs some work, still, but improving they are.

In all honesty, everyone everywhere should have known the game was over when this happened.

Even though it officially happened on this play.

In general, fans were a mix of happy, shocked, and everything in between following yet another game that went down to the wire. Here is what they had to say!

The Seattle Seahawks will have a spring in their step in Week 3 after an overtime road win against the Detroit Lions last weekend.

Tyler Lockett's walk-off touchdown sealed victory in what was a thoroughly entertaining game, to move Seattle to 1-1 on the season.

It has not been the dream start to NFL life for this year's number one overall pick Bryce Young, as his Carolina Panthers have lost both their games so far this season.

To make matters worse for the Panthers all three other NFC South teams are 2-0, so this season already looks to be a year for experimenting while helping Young reach his potential.

Here's everything you need to know ahead of Seahawks vs. Panthers.

Seahawks vs. Panthers date, start time

12 Thoughts as the Seahawks head to Detroit for Week 2

12 Thoughts as the Seahawks head to Detroit for Week 2

For three reasons:

  1. Tennessee is T-O-U-G-H to run against.
  2. The Titans pass defense is E-A-S-Y to throw against; it was the worst in the league last season at 274.8 yards per game.
  3. Two of the starters in Tennessee’s secondary won’t be playing on Sunday.

“Super confident. I don’t lose faith that I have in my team over one week,” Diggs told reporters after Sunday’s game. “I think we will be fine, sometimes it’s good to have a wake-up call early in the season and we got it over with now. We got punched in the chin, we have to see how we come out and fight, and come out and fight next week.”

Two. Jamal Adams is BACK !!!
